<p>Hi there! Today, I’m sharing a super practical and eco-friendly DIY project—making a door stopper from an unused plastic gallon bottle. Not only does this project help reduce waste, but it’s also a fun way to repurpose everyday items around your home. Let’s get started!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_03_52_58.Still024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3683" srcset="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_03_52_58.Still024.jpg 800w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_03_52_58.Still024-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_03_52_58.Still024-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_03_52_58.Still024-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_03_52_58.Still024-696x696.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Materials You’ll Need</strong></h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>An old plastic gallon bottle</li>

<li>Utility knife or cutter</li>

<li>Ruler and marker</li>

<li>Sandpaper or file (optional for smoothing edges)</li>

<li>Adhesive (double-sided tape or glue)</li>
</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step-by-Step Instructions</strong></h3>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. Preparing the Bottle</strong></h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_01_54_46.Still013.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3672" srcset="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_01_54_46.Still013.jpg 800w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_01_54_46.Still013-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_01_54_46.Still013-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_01_54_46.Still013-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_01_54_46.Still013-696x696.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Begin by drawing a rectangular shape on the front of the plastic gallon, extending down to the base.</li>

<li>The dimensions I used were <strong>6.5 cm wide, 12 cm long, and 4 cm high</strong>, but you can adjust the size based on your needs.</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_08_19.Still014.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3673" srcset="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_08_19.Still014.jpg 800w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_08_19.Still014-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_08_19.Still014-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_08_19.Still014-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_08_19.Still014-696x696.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. Cutting the Main Piece</strong></h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Carefully cut along the marked lines using a utility knife. Be cautious! The thick plastic can be tricky to cut, so go slow and steady.</li>

<li>After cutting, you’ll have an L-shaped plastic piece.</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_22_34.Still015.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3674" srcset="https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_22_34.Still015.jpg 800w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_22_34.Still015-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_22_34.Still015-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_22_34.Still015-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.thaitrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1x1.00_02_22_34.Still015-696x696.jpg 696w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>3. Adding the Inner Bend</strong></h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Draw another rectangle in the center of the L-shaped piece, about <strong>5 cm long and 6 cm high</strong>.</li>

<li>Cut along <strong>three sides only</strong>, leaving the top edge intact. This will allow you to bend the inner piece upward to form a locking mechanism.</li>

<li>Gently fold the cut section upwards to create the stopper&#8217;s catch.</li>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why Make a DIY Door Stopper?</strong></h3>

<p>You might wonder why not just buy one since they’re inexpensive. For me, it’s all about sustainability and creativity. Repurposing an unused plastic gallon bottle gives it a second life and keeps it out of the landfill. Plus, making things yourself is incredibly satisfying!</p>
